B

Term	Description
Breadcrumb	A breadcrumb is a small text path, often located at the top of a page, indicating where you are on a website. Above all Apotec Help article titles, you'll find the article's breadcrumb, allowing you to jump up the content tree from the article to it's module/category homepage. You can use the Home icon at the start of the breadcrumb to return to the Apotec Help homepage.

Term	Description
Carousel	We use carousels in Apotec CRM to allow you to browse through a set of items for selection, such as the prescription widget carousel in the Dispensing Wizard and Workflow..
CD	A Controlled Drug (CD) are drugs which are subject to high levels of regulation and are controlled under the Misuse of Drugs Act and its subsequent amendments. There are five classes of controlled drugs, which go from Schedule 1 to Schedule 5.
CIS	The NHS Care Identity Service (CIS) makes use of current technologies and smartcards to allow health and care professionals in England to authenticate their identity when accessing national clinical information systems.
CRM	A Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system is a set of integrated, data-driven software solutions that help manage, track, and store information.

Term	Description
DMR	The Discharge Medicines Review (DMR) is a module in Apotec CRM to help you manage your patient’s journey from one care setting to another.
dm+d	The dm+d is a dictionary of descriptions and codes which represent medicines and devices in use across the NHS.
DN	A dispense notification (DN) is sent to the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) before claiming reimbursement. Dispense notifications are sent from within the Workflow module on Apotec CRM.
DT	NHS Prescription Services produces the Drug Tariff (DT) on a monthly basis on behalf of the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC). The Drug Tariff outlines what will be paid to pharmacy contractors for NHS services provided either for reimbursement or for remuneration.

Term	Description
eMAR	An electronic Medication Administration Record (eMAR) is the digital alternative to a paper MAR chart. The transmission of eMARs is carried out within our MDS (Monitored Dosage System) module.
EPS	The Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) allows prescribers to send prescriptions electronically to a dispenser of the patient's choice. EPS prescriptions for your nominated patients are downloaded into Apotec CRM for processing within the patient specific Dispensing Wizard or Workflow module.

Term	Description
FHIR	Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) is the global industry standard for passing healthcare data between systems. It is the successor to the HL7 V3 standard.

HL7 V3	HL7 V3 is a global standard for health care data exchange. It is the predecessor to the FHIR standard.

Term	Description
MAR	MAR charts (Medication Administration Records) or MAR sheets are used throughout the health and social care industry to record details of any medication that a person takes whilst receiving care. You can manage your MAR charts within our MDS (Monitored Dosage System) module.
MDS	The Monitored Dosage System (MDS) is a module in Apotec CRM to help you manage the medication administration of your nursing home and community patients.

Term	Description
NCSO/SSP	Where the Secretary of State has issued a Serious Shortage Protocol (SSP) for a medicine or appliance, you will need to add the NCSO/SSP endorsement when supplying: An alternative quantity, formulation, or strength A generic equivalent A therapeutic equivalent. Information on products that have been granted an SSP status will be published on the respective country's reimbursement websites. This has replaced the NCSO endorsement. The No Cheaper Stock Obtainable (NSCO) endorsement concerns items where the DH have agreed that a preparation in Part VIIIA or Part VIIIB of the Drug Tariff is in short supply and not available at the fixed Drug Tariff price. You should not endorse NCSO unless you have made all reasonable efforts to obtain the product at the appropriate price but have not succeeded.
NMS	The New Medicines Service (NMS) is a module in Apotec CRM to help you manage your consultations with patients who are prescribed a medicine to treat a long-term condition for the first time.
Not Dispensed (ND)	There are two reasons you may see an ND flag in Apotec CRM: System-marked Not Dispensed (ND) item: An item that has been marked as ND by Apotec CRM and cannot be marked as given; reasons include: Item is on an EPS script and has been cancelled Item has expired Item is not permitted on the prescription type User-marked Not Dispensed (ND) item: An item that you have marked as ND but can be marked as given.

ODS	The Organisation Data Service (ODS) issues and manages unique identification codes (ODS codes) and accompanying reference data for organisations that interact with any area of the NHS.

Term	Description
PDS	The Personal Demographics Service (PDS) is the national master database of all NHS patients in England, Wales and the Isle of Man - holding basic patient details such as name, address, date of birth, contact details, registered GP, nominated pharmacy and NHS number. You can perform PDS searches and validation checks within Apotec CRM from the patient details form and patient search panel.
PI	A Parallel Import (PI) is genuine medicine that has been legally imported from an EU Member State to the UK. The UK parallel import licensing scheme lets a medicine authorised in European Economic Area (EEA) Member State be marketed in the UK, as long as the imported product has no therapeutic difference from the cross-referenced UK product.
PIP Code	The PIP Code is a unique code allocated to a specific product, along with the description associated to, and describing that product.
Prescription widget	We have designed a prescription widget (or prescription box) to display all the useful information pertaining to an individual prescription, including the item(s) it contains, the prescription type and the date it was added. You'll find the prescription widgets wherever you are required to select prescriptions for processing, such as in the Dispensing Wizard or within Workflow.

QR Code	A Quick Response (QR) Code is a machine-readable code consisting of an array of black and white squares, used for storing information that can be read using smartphones and other dedicated QR reading devices.

Term	Description
RBAC	Role-based access control (RBAC) is a method of restricting access to computer or network resources based on a person's role within an organisation.
RMS	The Repeat Management Service (RMS) is a module in Apotec CRM to help you manage your requests.
RTEC	Real Time Exemption Checking (RTEC) allows you to digitally check if your patients have a known exemption that can auto-apply to their EPS prescription. Once an EPS prescription is downloaded in Apotec CRM, an RTEC check is performed by default where possible, and the results are displayed in an RTEC badge on the prescription widget.

Term	Description
SDM	The Substance Dependency Module (SDM) is a module in Apotec CRM to help you manage and dispense addictive substances or CDs following a schedule of instalments as part of an FP10MDA or WP10MDA prescription.
Snackbars	We use snackbars to inform you of a process that Apotec CRM has performed or will perform. They appear temporarily, towards the bottom of the screen.
SSP	Serious shortage protocols (SSPs) under the Human Medicines Regulations 2012 (HMRs) are an additional tool to manage and mitigate medicines shortages. If the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) decide there is a serious shortage of a specific medicine or appliance, then an SSP may be issued.

UOM	The standard unit of measurement (UOM) for pharmaceutical products represents the most common unit of measurement for an item and should be the item’s smallest valid unit of measure.
