MDS Videos

Use the MDS module to manage the medication of your nursing home and community patients. Once patients are added to a nursing home or as a community patient, an MDS tab will display in their patient record providing you with all the patient specific functionality you'll find in the MDS Manager.

Adding nursing homes

You will need to create your nursing home(s) before you are able to assign patients and perform any MDS related activities. The nursing home configuration - including cycle start dates and administration times - are captured in the Nursing Home Settings/Add Nursing Home window. You can access this window from the MDS Manager.

Editing nursing homes

Once you have created a nursing home you may need to edit the details. Nursing home settings are captured in the Nursing Home Settings/Edit Nursing Home window. You can access this window from the MDS Manager.

  • Please take the utmost care when editing nursing home details as any amendments made will apply to all patients within the home.
  • You will be required to reset all saved administration quantities if you edit administration times for your nursing home.

Adding patients into nursing homes

Patients can be added to nursing homes from their patient details form. Once a patient has been added, a Nursing Home section and MDS tab will display in their patient record.

Adding patients into community care

Patients can be added into community care from the MDS Manager. Once a patient has been added, a Nursing Home section and MDS tab will display in their patient record.

Editing community patient settings

Once patients are assigned to community care, you can edit their community patient settings in the Community MDS Settings/Edit Community MDS window which can be accessed from patient details form.

You are able to edit cycle start dates.

Dispensing MDS prescriptions

MDS prescriptions are processed via the Dispensing Wizard. MDS items are managed during the Item Validation and MDS Details steps of the Dispensing Wizard which can be accessed from the MDS Manager.

Printing MDS charts and picking lists

You have various printing options within the MDS Manager including Medication Administration Records (MAR) Charts, Backing Sheets, labels and picking lists. Before printing, you can temporarily adjust your printing settings via the MDS Printing Options window. Printing options are configured based on your settings within the Nursing Home/Community patient's settings.

Note

Report templates will need to be selected within the Nursing Home/Community patient's settings before you're able to print MAR Charts, Backing Sheets and picking lists. MAR charts (M), Backing Sheets (B) and Labels (L) will only print for items flagged as M, B and/or L.

Note

You will be prompted to select a printer if you do not have printers configured in your application settings. Learn how to configure printers by following our Configuring printers and label reports article.
